Nerd News: Your Wednesday dose of glorious geekiness

A weekly nerd's eye view of the latest in AI, tech, maths and education, aimed at putting a smile on your face and maybe make the run to the weekend a little bit easier.

Perhaps you're new to my world, or perhaps you've been getting my Number newsletter for some time now.

Well, this certainly isn't Number - a monthly fun and informative romp through maths, numbers and pop culture - but my brand new Nerd News dedicated to sharing a nerd's eye view of the latest in AI, tech, maths and education.

To celebrate our first-ever issue, we are hopping into a time machine* and dialing it back 20 years. A time when phones were dumb, when media was printed, and when two young(ish) lads hung up the headphones and said goodbye to the breakfast show on triple j.

I’m thrilled to share that Wil and I are doing a 20 year reunion tour "The First Time... In A Long Time" from October through December this year. If that puts a midweek smile on your dial, head to comedy.com.au for tickets. And send us an email at adamandwilbreakfast@gmail.com with your favourite memories, musical requests and photos from back in the day.

*Geeky time travel fact

The brilliant Christopher Nolan film "Interstellar" played with the multiverse, wormholes and time travel, and saw Matthew McConaughey communicate across space and time via a bookshelf. Trust me, it makes sense once you see it.

You might not have known the legendary physicist Kip Thorne (who won a Nobel Laureate in 2017) was the official consultant to "Interstellar". So while it gets a bit weird, it all holds together logically.

That’s all from me for now. If you'd like more geeky fun, please check out my other newsletters below, or connect with me on LinkedIn and/or X.

Yours in numbers,

Adam
